A COLORADO WHERE EVERYONE CAN THRIVE
Colorado works best when all of us can contribute to a strong, thriving future. But right now, our tax system isn’t keeping up with what families and communities need — and it puts too much pressure on people who are already stretched thin.
A graduated income tax is a simple, fair solution that ensures that all of us pay what we should so all of us can get the services we rely on.
WHAT IS A GRADUATED INCOME TAX?
A graduated income tax simply means this: Those who earn more, contribute a little more. Those who earn less, contribute less. Most states already use a graduated income tax — it’s a system where people contribute based on what they earn. And it’s fair. Under our proposal:
- 97% of Coloradans would pay the same or less
- Only households making over $500,000/year — around 3% — would contribute a little more.
- This can raise $2B + for Colorado schools, healthcare, child care & more
WHY COLORADO NEEDS THIS
Colorado should be a place where all of us can succeed.
But families face soaring costs, underfunded schools, and a budget that can’t meet basic needs. Colorado families are facing:
- Sky-high childcare costs
- Underfunded schools
- Rising health care prices
- A cost of living that keeps climbing
- A state budget that can’t keep up with basic needs
And here’s why:
Our current flat tax gives the top earners a break and leaves everyone else paying more. A graduated income tax is fair and could raise $2 billion to invest in the services Coloradans rely on.
